Though this world is turbulent, there are still days and places where we can be afforded some tranquility. When this happens, it is right to rest from the tribulations and striving of being in the world and take advantage of what is offered. In these beautiful moments and places we can often find peace. Sometimes we are so worn out by our daily activities that we forget to notice our need for recharging. Renewal is a profound tonic. With sanctuary and rest we can prepare to go forth again with new energy.

One of my favorite ways to relax is getting a massage.  In Naples Fl, Joy Shockley owner of The Purple Butterfly Massage and Spa is Amazing!!! I have known her for several years and she truly embodies the phrase “Live Well, Serve Well.” Joy gives accurate care to each person she encounters specializing in:  Swedish Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, Advocare, Myofascial Release, Massage Therapy, Licensed Massage Therapist, L.M.T., Energy Medicine, EFT, Cranial Sacral Massage, Balancing & Energy Work, Artistry, Alternative Healing, Acupressure.

After starting CrossFit in GA I found another Joye!!! Joye Sewell owner of JOYE Massage in Cumming Ga., and she is unbelievable! Joye has helped me recover quickly from a back injury so I was able to get back to my workouts pronto.

Massage was generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It’s increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations.

Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.

While more research is needed to confirm the benefits of massage, some studies have found massage may also be helpful for:

  • Anxiety
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Paresthesias and nerve pain
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Temporomandibular joint pain

Beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massage because it often involves caring, comfort, a sense of empowerment and creating deep connections with their massage therapist.
